Richard Mayson is a highly respected English wine writer specialising in Portuguese wines and is an eminent authority on Port, Madeira, Sherry and the wines of Spain and Portugal.

Richard is a writer, lecturer and consultant on wine, writing articles for Decanter and The World of Fine Wine  magazine, award-winning author of five books on wine, Chair of the Decanter World Wine Awards for Portugal, Port & Madeira and the owner of a vineyard in the Alto Alentejo region where he produces his wine, Pedra Basta. Throughout his career, Richard has written hundreds of tasting notes which are currently stored in files in his office, some of which provide a source for his books and many articles and are published here.
