We are heading for a very early harvest this year, largely due to the warm weather in the early spring. Picking should begin on Monday 5th September or possibly earlier still. At the moment it all looks very good in the vineyard. August has not been too hot and provided the weather holds into September we should have a sizable, good quality crop. It looks much the same in the Douro. Paul Symington tells me that it is looking good in the Douro and that they are planning on picking at Dow's Sra da Ribeira, Cockburn's Canais and Roriz on 5th and Vesuvio on 8th but so much depends on the next few days. I feel that am tempting fate by counting chickens before thay hatch!
