I like to hear singing in the winery and we have a very happy atmosphere this year. It revolves around two young estagiários, a Portuguese winemaker named José Daniel Soares and a French-Portuguese girl named Melanie. José Daniel has already worked a number of vintages in Portugal (Quinta do Roriz), Australia and Napa. He knows his way around and works cheerfully and tirelessly. This is Melanie’s first hands-on vintage but she has worked in Burgundy and is full of enthusiasm (over the half the battle when you are working long hours) and does a very passable rendition of Michael Jackson’s ‘Don’t stop to you get enough’. She has taken some great photographs of the vintage which I will try and include on the blog at a later stage.
